Through I’m Blue, Luke Han sought to speak to people facing hardship during the pandemic, reframing feelings of being “blue” through the positive energy of the color blue.
The project includes posters, social media posts, and printed banners, with a visual concept bridging the artist’s intention and the artwork. Drawing from nature and subtle motion, the design reframes “being blue” as a shared experience of calm, hope, and quiet strength.
Key characteristics of the main artwork were identified, including a sense of Oneness in a circular form, and a calm atmosphere. These qualities recall the imagery of bubbles rising in the ocean, which became a central metaphor for the exhibition. The bubble represents quiet movement, resilience, and gentle energy—connecting the artwork to the exhibition’s thesis.
To apply this metaphor, animated bubbles were introduced and combined with the main artwork. The slow upward motion communicates natural energy while maintaining a calm and peaceful tone.
The visual concept was applied to print materials through layout rhythm. Elements grow larger from bottom to top, resembling ascending bubbles, while their alternating left and right positions suggest a natural flow. Plenty of spacing creates a calm rhythm, giving space for typography and images to breathe, establishing a calm, steady visual rhythm.
