Every design work starts with dot, line, and plane. And that includes the design of PASTA.

This project demonstrates the functionality and aesthetic of pasta’s fundamental design elements: point, line, and plane. This was built to be a live website and was coded by Sangyup.

Not coincidentally, pasta is also one of the most internationally consumed foods in the world. Each culture makes a pasta dish created with familiar ingredients for their region. Pasta’s point line and plane elements function critically in accounting for its popularity.

I read Kandinsky’s essay ‘Point and Line to Plane’ and outlined the important characteristic of point, line, and plain according to the result of his research. I matched with the characteristic of each pasta that I sorted according to the shape. I found that the shape of pasta has a strong relationship with the characteristic of point, line, and plain, and it is affecting the functionality and aesthetic of pasta.

The target of this work is young designers start their professional careers. I wanted to show design is everywhere. Through that, I want the young designers, and my friends have proud of the design and their works.
